Drowning Mona (2000) - starring Danny DeVito, Bette Midler, and Neve Campbell - is set in Verplanck. During the film, it is said that in 1985 automobile entrepreneur Malcolm Bricklin tested the U.S. market for Zastava vehicles, now branded as Yugo, in Verplanck. However, this is just part of the movie, and is not actually true.
Verplanck is the location of an eponymous web series about a group of Jews from Brooklyn who want to try the country life.
