Cortlandt Honors Late Town Worker, Verplanck Resident At Park Dedication

Cortlandt will formally dedicate its new park facilities at Lake Meahagh on Saturday, according to town Supervisor Linda D. Puglisi. The park is on Westchester Avenue and the public is invited to the ceremony, which begins at 11 a.m. The town will also dedicate a tree planted in memory of Robert "Sinbad" Sinclair, a beloved employee of the town Highway Department, and a bench, which honors Jefferey Kessler, the late son of another longtime town employee, Thomas Kessler.

Hen Hud Teachers Are Featured Panelists At Technology Conference

Colleen Ruiz of Blue Mountain Middle School and Mary Fanning and Nupur Pal of Buchanan-Verplanck Elementary School participated in the "Rethinking Academic Coaches" panel and shared information on how "technology coaches" currently work within school districts. The district's academic coaching program launched last year to coach district educators on how to best use instructional technology at the school level.

Hen Hud Students Go Green At Community Garden

Members of the Hen Hud Green Team recently volunteered their time to stain the compost bin at the Town of Cortlandt's Community Garden at Lake Meahagh Park in Verplanck. The Lake Meahagh Community Garden was created this past spring, and Green Team members have been involved since its opening, learning gardening basics alongside community members and team adviser, Hendrick Hudson science teacher Stephanie McQuade.
